Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken small cuts / You can use 500 gm boneless chicken cut in medium-sized cubes too.
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 4 tbsp yoghurt
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 4 medium size tomatoes
- 1 big onion diced
- 3 green chili diced
- 2 capsicum diced / you can add red bell pepper with the green ones
- 1 tbsp salt
- 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
Method
We start by taking a pan and adding oil 1/2 cup oil to it. We place it on the stove and add our chicken. Now we fry chicken until it changes color. This will take only 5 to 6 minutes. Now to this chicken, we add ginger garlic paste and let it saute. Now we will add salt, turmeric powder, chili powder,garam masala and cumin powder and let it cook for a minute. Now it’s time to add whisked yogurt to the chicken. Let it cook for 5 minutes. Keep stirring with a spoon. Now we will tomatoes cut in half and added to the pot placing the peel side up with 1/2 cup water and cover it with a lid and let it cook on low flame for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes we will open the lid and take a tong or a fork to lift the peels off the tomatoes that have become soft and can easily be removed now. Now with the help of a spatula or flat spoon, we will mash the tomatoes against the sides of the pot until you don’t see any big chunks of tomatoes. Now we will the cook chicken until the water disappears and oil appears and the tomatoes become well cooked. In this gravy add 2 tbsp tomato ketchup. Now cook for another 5 minutes . Now we will add diced onion and capsicum in it and fry for 2 minutes. Your jalfrezi is ready. Serve with. Some naan bread or boiled rice
